Q: When is the county road department open?

A: Our business hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. We are closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We also observe all state holidays.

Q: If I see a county road issue, how do I report it?

A: Call our office during business hours at (423) 728-7006 to submit an issue. If you have an emergency after hours, please call the Sheriff’s Office at (423) 728-7311 and press 0 for dispatch.

Q: Who do I contact regarding city road issues?

A: Please call Cleveland Public Works at (423) 472-2851.

Q: Who do I contact regarding state road issues?

A: Please call the TDOT Region 2 Office at (423) 892-3430.

Q: Do you furnish culverts for driveways on county roads?

A: No; however, if you furnish the culvert and the driveway is coming off a county road, then we will install, put down gravel or pave over the top of the culvert at no charge.

Q: Do you remove dead animals or litter from the county roads or ditches?

A: No. Bradley County Sheriff’s Department receives the litter grant to fund the removal of dead animals and litter pickup. Contact them for assistance at (423) 728-7301.

Q: Do you pick up brush from residential properties in the county?

A: No. The county does not pick up brush. If you are inside the city limits, call Cleveland Public Works at (423) 472-2851 for brush removal.

Q: Can you clean out my ditch and driveway culvert?

A: Yes. County residents can call the office to place a work order.

Q: Can you grade & gravel my driveway?

A: No, that is private property. A violation of this provision is a Class C misdemeanor. T.C.A § 5-7-116.

Q: How often are the county right of ways mowed?

A: While there is no set schedule, mowing is based on need throughout the county.

Q: Where can I access county GIS information?

A: Visit the county GIS website here or contact them at (423) 728-7171.

Q: Who installs county road signs?

A: The county road department installs all road signs for county roads. We do not install signs for private roads, state roads or city roads.

Q: Can you work on county roads to cemeteries?

A: Yes, we can if the cemetery is on a county road. No, we cannot if the cemetery is not on a county road.

Q: Can you gravel or pave a church or charitable organization parking lot located in the county?

A: No, that is private property. A violation of this provision is a Class C misdemeanor. T.C.A § 5-7-116.
